Good morning bloggy friends!
So....as I was looking at my list of my classroom "must-do crafts" I realized that I have completed every thing on my list this summer.... except for those crate seats. Ya'll they are daunting me! I want some sooooo bad but I really don't want to make them! Ha! I don't know why! I have pretty much all the materials except for the wood and foam.
So, in avoidance, I was looking at my pin board trying to figure out something I really wanted to make this week for Monday Made it when I came across this pin:
The link was broken but it took me to Tonya's Treats for Teachers so I contacted Tonya to ask if it was hers and it is! But it's from an old blog that she no longer has so there is no link to it. I say she should run that post again on her new blog! :)
Anyway - I made my own little "book nook" poster for my kids to choose from when reading to self and partners.
Oh and I added glitter to those snazzy little clothespins! LOVE them!
Just put a little Mod Podge on, glitter up, let dry and add a top layer of Mod Podge so the glitter doesn't fall off as bad. Easy peasy!
I'm going to use the poster when doing my check-ins for Daily 5. If they are reading to self or a partner, as I call them they will put a clothespin on their reading spot. Once the spot has a clip on it, no one else can take the spot. Hopefully it will keep down bickering and kids trying to sit a little TOO close to their buddies! ;)
I'm linking up with Tara for her ever-so-fabulous linky! I'm so sad the summer is almost gone! EEEEEK! Only a few more weeks until this gal is back to school!
Have a fabulous Monday friends!
Love those clothes pins!

I made those seat crates and it didn't take any time at all. Just go to Walmart and get an egg crate bedding, and a vinyl table cloth. When you go get your wood, preferrably at Home Depot, because they will cut it to fit, make sure they round the sides to fit perfectly. Use a staple gun. It will be finished in about an hour. No problem at all. I made 7 of them...Come over to my blog and see my things that were on my to do list. Lesa-s.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteLove the book nook poster...and who doesn't love a lil' glitter and mod podge? Thanks for sharing :)

That book nook poster is SO cute! I agree, Tonya should run that post again. I'm also intimidated by the crate seats. I don't know why, but I've been putting mine off too. I guess you are locked in now that you have put them on your book nook poster. No turning back now. Hehe. :)

Fancy Free in Fourth
I am an organization freak. As soon as I saw this I thought "why haven't I thought of that". We also start school soon. We finally get to take our stuff to our new school on Monday, so I will make this in anticipation!!
ReplyDeleteI saw that post on pinterest too! I like that idea! I seriously have a million crafts going on at once! I'm jealous your list is finished! I'm a new follower! I'd love for you to come check out my blog!

Carly :)
I love your book nooks board. I was thinking about making a class jobs poster that has the same features. Perhaps it's time to make 2 new boards for the classroom :)

Ummm...your book nook puts my book nook to SHAME! Great job! and I LOVE the glitter clips! I will blog about book nooks again here soon! The problem is...I didn't even use it last year! YIKES! It's not that I didn't want to, I now switch for literacy and math classes so it was hard to have that up just for my literacy class. If I end of having a separate independent reading block this year I will for sure be using book nooks again!

Tonya’s Treats for Teachers
I love this idea! We don't use the Daily 5 in our school, but we do have both private and partner reading time during our reading workshop. I always let the kids pick where they sit but it gets confusing to keep track... now they can mark where they sit on their own! I love it!!

MaMa Goose’s Kindergarten
Love this! I thought about something like this the other day just for seating in my classroom. I'm doing open seating this year in Kindergarten and thought I needed a "little" bit of control so I want them to choose where they sit when they first come in. Yours looks ADORABLE! Thanks for sharing!

I LOVE that idea with the poster and where the students can read to self. It will eliminate any chaos and bickering (who wouldn't want that?). I am your newest follower!!
